01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
The Hid3out Picnic is a riverside glamping hideout on the Sungai Tua, inside the Sungai Tua Recreational Forest belt along the Ulu Yam road — close enough to KL that reviewers describe it as "not too far from the city", yet surrounded by jungle. The listing reads as a Camping cabin on Google, and the review topics tell the real story: glamping (17 mentions), the river (27), comfy beds (4) and private toilets (5).
Stays are bell tents with proper beds — reviewers name a comfy bed, a fan and blankets inside the tent — and the food angle is a big part of the draw: dinner and breakfast ingredients are provided for a DIY cook-up by the river. The site is small and family-run in feel, with hammocks strung along the bank and river spots where kids and grandparents can both find their level.
It's the classic short-getaway-from-KL pick: 30-40 minutes from the city, river in front, food sorted, tent made up. Not a wild camping ground and not a resort — a comfortable middle ground that reviewers keep coming back to.
03 🚗 Getting There
From the KL city centre, head north past Batu Caves and onto Jalan Ulu Yam - Sungai Tua (the old trunk road toward Ulu Yam) — the site is at Hutlista 2 along that road, inside the Sungai Tua Recreational Forest area (plus code 8M3W+J4, coordinates 3.3040709, 101.6953465). Most reviewers clock it at around 30-40 minutes from KL. Parking is on site.
The access road follows the Sungai Tua river valley and is busy with waterfall and picnic visitors on weekends — start early if you can. One reviewer noted construction activity in the surrounding area during their stay, so ask the owner about the current situation when you book.
04 🛏️ Staying at The Hid3out
Two ways to enjoy it: overnight glamping in bell tents with comfy beds, or river picnics for the day (the name says it all). The tents come with a bed, fan and blankets — reviewers mention this every time — and dinner plus breakfast ingredients are provided for a DIY cook-up by the river.
- Glamping bell tent (per unit) - Comfy bed, fan and blankets inside; private toilet — booking by phone, rates not published online.

06 💬 What Campers Are Saying
"If you want to get away from the city but you don't want to give up to amenities such as internet or clean personal bathrooms then this place is definitely for you! Less than 30 minutes away from the city is a little "hid3out" for you to enjoy nature in a more "glamorous" manner. The camping area is well taken care of - clean, safe and managed by the team who is nearby should you require assistance. The management is very responsive when you text them for assistance. The camp fits 4 and consists of two box mattress, lamp and a fan. The fan is helpful in the afternoon but by late evening,…"
"This is a great glamping spot if you're looking for somewhere not too far from KL. Inside the tent, it's comfortable with a fan, a comfy bed, and blankets. By the river, dinner and breakfast ingredients are provided, so you can experience the full camping experience without having to bring things yourself. It's so cozy that you can enjoy the sounds of nature. Outside the tent, there are chairs, a table, and a bench for relaxing and chilling, especially at night. The best part is the private toilet and the campfire! It's the perfect place for healing. ✨"
"The place is nice, clean, comfy, well equipped, safe & friendly enough for toddlers & warga emas too. Also got hammocks near the river can healing sampai pagi 😆 The food sedap & with great portion too. Eventho there’s a construction running 24hr nearby, it didnt bother us much. My whole family were so happy & enjoyed especially with the service. Just be careful with the monkeys but they only appeared when we’re already packed up for check out. Thnks to the friendly staffs they did gave us the heads up on tht 😬 overall, totally recommended 👍🏻"
"Great location as it is close to KL yet surrounded by nature. Highly recommended for short getaway. Great hospitality. Wan and another staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Campsite was reasonably clean and tidy. Generous amount of food was provided, Don’t expect too much on the taste. We were really excited about the camp fire they prepared for us. River was clean at the time of visit. No garbage found. Mosquito alert. We brought our own mosquito repellent over. Will definitely recommend to other and visit again."

Google's rating spread (4.7★ / 127 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is strongly positive. The recurring highs are the comfortable glamping tents (comfy bed, fan, blankets), the river with hammocks, and the provided dinner and breakfast. 08 🏕️ The Camp Tip
- The river is the main event — protect the essentials. Phones and splashy kids mix badly here: drop yours in a Naturehike phone waterproof bag before anyone hits the water.
- The riverbed is rocky, and the crowd includes toddlers and grandparents. Naturehike wading shoes make river crossings and hammock hops far more comfortable for every age.
- Dinner and breakfast are provided — your drinks are on you. A Blackdog cooler box keeps your cold drinks and snacks going through the whole river afternoon.
- Mornings by the river start early. The DIY breakfast is a cook-up, so bring a Mobi Garden kettle and the first coffee of the day doesn't wait for the pan.
