02 🌲 The Vibe

Taiping Bamboo Resort is what happens when a bamboo-thatched resort and a proper campsite share one gate: raised bamboo cabins for the no-groundsheet crowd, gazebo camping pitches for BYO tent campers, and a glamping hall that reviewers have rented for under RM100 a night. Behind it all runs a stream with a pond at the back, and there's a private pool for hot afternoons. Reviewers repeat the same four words in different orders — clean, organised, safe, friendly — and the seasonal free durians are mentioned in almost every rave review.

03 🚗 Getting There

Taiping Bamboo Resort is in the Burmese pool area of Taiping, Perak (plus code RQX8+86, 34000 Taiping). It's about 10-15 minutes from Taiping town centre and the Taiping Lake Gardens. 04 🛏️ Staying at Taiping Bamboo

Three ways to stay. Gazebo camping — pitch your own tent on one of the covered gazebo platforms scattered through the bamboo grounds, with a kitchen available for campers to use. Glamping hall — a sizeable covered hall that reviewers have rented for under RM100 a night, glamping-style with your own bedding setup. Bamboo cabins — raised thatched cabins with balconies for those who want a proper room; note some reviewers find the smaller bamboo huts tight (roughly 8x8 ft).

  • Gazebo camping (BYO tent) - Pitch on a covered gazebo platform — stream and pond at the back, camper kitchen available.
  • Glamping hall - ~RM100/night (camper-reported) — a large covered hall, ideal for groups.
  • Bamboo cabins - Raised thatched cabins with balcony — comfortable, though smaller huts run tight.
⛺ Camping & booking — no website or online rates; call 017-666 6827 to confirm availability, pricing and what the cabin/hall rates include. The camper kitchen is shared, so pack light and leave the space as you found it. Gated entrance with autogate — check in is smooth and the site feels very safe.

"Really love this campsite. Easy and professional check in with good security with locked gate. Very well maintained and landscaping that preserves the natural environment. Simple facilities that are more than adequate with proper toilets and hot showers. The car camping sites even have proper waterproof outdoor electric points. Plenty of green and a lovely pool with cold stream water from the nearby hills. There are also aircon chalets for those who rather not camp, so there are choices."

"Lovely place for camping... definitely must come/go. Clean toilet. All necessary facilities are in good condition."

"We recently spent 2 nights camping at Taiping Bamboo Resort, setting up our tent on one of the gazebos. The campsite is spacious and surrounded by lush greenery, with a stream and pond at the back adding to the relaxing atmosphere. Facilities are average, good thing is plug points are available at the gazebos, and the toilets are clean and washed daily by a dedicated cleaner. The location is convenient, only about 3km from Taiping City Centre and roughly 800–900m from Burmese Pool. However, getting Grab rides was a bit tricky. Many drivers were unfamiliar with the road beyond Burmese Pool, and some even canceled our bookings.…"

"Beautiful resort with decent rooms and nature to explore. Free durians too! Very friendly and helpful owner. Nice place for family getaway. There is a kitchen for campers to use as well."

★★★☆☆

"Their bamboo huts are worse!! Just a 8 by 8 room. Can't even walk around the bed. Washrooms are average. However, the rainbow huts are better than that. You can cook your own food at the tesort amd eat in the dining or in your own hut. Do not take heavy luggages. Having your own car will help navigating around city from the resort as it is situated on a highland. The waterfall is very small, more like a natural jacuzzi. Water is cold and somewhat soothing. No restaurant inside the resort. You can order on Grab from outside."

Google's rating spread (4.4★ / 276 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is solidly positive with two recurring themes: the campsite side — clean, organised, gated and safe, with the stream, pond and pool as the highlight — and the seasonal durian perk, which reviewers mention with genuine delight. The main caveat is the smaller bamboo huts run tight (one reviewer calls them an 8x8 room), so cabin choice matters. There is no published rate card, so expect to confirm pricing over the phone.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip

Our take on gear & planning
  • The gazebo pitches are the sweet spot — bring the right tent. Reviewers set up on the covered gazebo platforms, which take a freestanding dome best: a Vidalido dome tent pitches quickly and handles the bamboo grounds well.
  • Night falls early under the bamboo. The grounds are tree-lined and the paths between gazebos and cabins are unlit in places — a Blackdog camping light makes the walk to the camper kitchen and back much easier.
  • The stream is shallow and rocky — shoes off is not the move. Wading to the pond area is nicer with a pair of Naturehike wading shoes on.
  • Pool + stream = wet kids, wet everything. A Naturehike quick dry towel dries fast between swims and packs small for the drive home.
