02 🌲 The Vibe

Himalaya is the loud, lively end of the Gopeng river scene — a camping farm where the Kampar River runs right past the site and the activity list is longer than the packing list: white-water rafting, ATV rides, a rainbow slide and jungle treks, plus a pool for the non-adventurous. Reviewers keep saying the same thing — the vibes are great even at night, the river is relaxing and clean, and there is always something to do. Campers get simple riverfront pitches; glampers get the geodesic domes; everyone gets the fire.

03 🚗 Getting There

From Gopeng town it is a short drive into the Kampar River valley (plus code C5WX+JM, 31600 Gopeng). The site is well signed and the access road is sealed — fine for sedans, unlike some of the rougher Gopeng campsites. Parking is on site. If you're coming from Ipoh, it's about 20-25 minutes via the Gopeng exit; from KL via the North-South Highway it's roughly 2.5 hours.

🚗 ~20 min from Ipoh via Gopeng📍 C5WX+JM, 31600 Gopeng🅿 Parking on site🛣 Sealed access road

Reviewers advise checking the weather before a river day — heavy rain in the week before can leave the river running strong. The site itself stays lively at night, so if you want dead silence this isn't it.

04 🛏️ Staying at Himalaya

Two ways to stay: BYO tent camping on riverfront pitches (RM40-50), or glamping in fully equipped geodesic domes (RM250-400). The camping area is simple — pitch, river access, free & easy activities, plus BBQ and campfire. Glamping units come with beds and basic facilities, aimed at families and couples who want the river without the groundsheet.

  • Camping pitch (BYO tent) - RM40-50/pitch/night — riverfront spots, BBQ & campfire experience included.
  • Glamping dome - RM250-400/night depending on unit — fully equipped with beds, ideal for families & couples.
  • Adventure add-ons - Rafting, jungle trekking, abseiling and river activities from ~RM120-250/person.
⛺ Camping & policies — booking is via the official site (himalayacamp.com) or call 011-1472 8746; the site charges an additional room night as penalty for late changes, and extra guests/bedding may add fees — confirm your headcount when booking. Camping includes BBQ/campfire experience; glamping units have beds and basic facilities.

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Absolutely love the vibes here! Even at night, the place is still lively and happening. The kids’ pool is open until night, and the rainbow slide even has a night session, which made the experience extra fun for the children. One thing I really liked is how everyone can enjoy a BBQ almost anywhere, even right in front of their room. The area around the campfire is huge, giving the kids plenty of space to run around freely. The river is also located just next to the campsite, making it easy to enjoy nature. Surprisingly, the weather wasn’t hot at all, probably because there are so many trees providing shade,…"

"My 1st trip to Gopeng, Perak. this is my 1st pitstop & loving this place. A good place to bond with family & frens. Surprisingly this place is very clean and well maintained. Didnt see any funny2 insects or ants anywhere. I took 2 units of nuptse house, a walking distance to river. Kids enjoyed the rainbow slides. FJ ATV is nearby too. Didn't get to try water rafting. There's a minimart, cafe and 1 nearby warung. Basic breakfast provided (bento per pax with unlimited breads & hot drinks). If want to BBQ, just rent for rm30 for the small one. Can bbq outside the rooms.…"

"ATV and Rafting organised by HC Gopeng was fun and exiting. The river is relaxing and nice. Do look out if there is heavy rain during the week."

"It was ok. For me the accomodation is a bit pricey cause no iron, no towels but can understand cause I believe the maintenance should be pretty high as it in a remote area. Food and drink is easy to get, many things to do, the place is very clean too"

- Google reviewer — clean & practical

Google's rating spread (4.5★ / 337 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is broadly positive with a realistic middle: the highs are the river, the activity list and the lively atmosphere; the caveats are that glamping rates run high for what you get (no iron, no towels in the unit) and the site is not a quiet escape — it stays active into the night. Cleanliness and the easy food/drink access get consistent praise.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip

Our take on gear & planning
  • Rafting day means your phone goes in a dry bag. The Kampar runs fast on activity days — a Naturehike dry bag keeps your phone and keys dry while you're on the water.
  • The river is the main event — protect the essentials. Even a lazy wade ends with a splash; drop your phone in a Naturehike phone waterproof bag before you go near the water.
  • Post-raft towel is non-negotiable. The activity packages get you wet early — a Naturehike quick dry towel dries fast between activities.
  • Upgrade the camping night with an air tent. The RM40-50 pitches are wide open riverfront — a Spark air tent pitches in minutes and stands up to the valley breeze.
