02 🌲 The Vibe

Sumpitan Glamping is the quiet, healing end of Malaysian glamping — a small family-style site in Kampung Sumpitan on the edge of Lenggong's limestone valley. Reviewers keep reaching for the same words: tenang, peaceful, healing. The setup is simple: white bell tents with beds, lamps, plug points and air coolers, a small cool river running beside the site, and a BYO camping ground for the tent crowd.

The on-site Pio kopi coffee stand has its own fan club, breakfast comes included with the glamping stay, and nights are built around BBQ and campfire (rental sets available). Weekends fill up and the afternoon heat is real — but for a slow, easy escape from the city, this is what reviewers mean by healing.

03 🚗 Getting There

Sumpitan Glamping sits in Kampung Sumpitan, 33420 Lenggong, Perak (plus code 5XJX+53), in Hulu Perak — roughly an hour's drive from Ipoh and about three hours from KL via the North-South Highway (Kuala Kangsar exit), heading up Route 76 through Lenggong's limestone valley. The site is well known locally; the last stretch is a village road, so drive in slowly and watch for kampung traffic.

04 🛏️ Staying at Sumpitan

Two ways to stay at Sumpitan: glamping in the white bell tents (about 4 pax, with beds, lamps, plug points and an air cooler), or BYO tent camping on the grounds beside the site. Breakfast is included with the glamping stay, per reviewers. One honest note from the owner: the chalets visible nearby belong to a separate establishment — Sumpitan itself is glamping tents plus a camping ground.

  • Glamping bell tent - ~4 pax — beds, lamps, plug points and air cooler; breakfast included (camper-reported).
  • BYO tent pitch - Camping ground beside the site — bring your own tent and pick a spot.
  • Extras - A/C rental ~RM50 (camper-reported), BBQ set and campfire rental on site.
⛺ Camping & policies — no published rate sheet; call 019-973 1561 to book and confirm pricing. Breakfast is included with glamping stays per reviewers; the bell tent runs hot in the afternoon, so an A/C unit is available to rent (reviewers report around RM50). Toilets and showers are shared and mostly clean and modern; mosquito repellent is a must. Note: the chalets next door are a separate establishment, not part of Sumpitan Glamping.

★★★★☆

"A clean and nice place, mosquito repellent is a must. Provide camp and breakfast, a safe camp site. A bit not value for money."

- Google reviewer — clean & practical
★★★☆☆

"The area is beautiful and clean. All the facilities are well-maintained ,the toilets and showers are clean and even provided with body soap. There’s a comfortable stone path for walking, well-kept grass, and plenty of shady trees. A gazebo is available for relaxing and enjoying nature. The staff service was also good, with clear explanations before check-in. There’s even a coffee shop inside the campsite to chill and unwind. The only downside that affected our rating was the condition of the tent. The tent had mold, and the material used traps heat. They also added a wedding-style fabric inside the tent, which made it even hotter.…"

- Google reviewer — clean & practical

Google's rating spread (4.4★ / 143 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) leans clearly positive, dominated by the small river, the natural surroundings and the clean facilities. The recurring caveats are practical rather than deal-breaking: the bell tent runs hot in the afternoon (an A/C unit is available to rent, around RM50), weekends get crowded, a few broken toilet flushes have been reported, and at least one guest found it "a bit not value for money" — worth confirming what's included when you call. The highs: the calm healing atmosphere, friendly staff, the on-site coffee stand and the included breakfast.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip

Our take on gear & planning
  • The bell tents run hot by late afternoon — reviewers' most repeated practical gripe. The site can rent you an A/C unit for around RM50, but for the rest of the day a Naturehike camping fan keeps the air moving inside the tent.
  • The small river is the whole mood here — shallow, cool and slow enough for a lazy wade. The pebbly bed gets slippery underfoot; a pair of Naturehike wading shoes makes river time comfortable for hours.
  • Shared showers plus a river equals a towel that dries fast. Between the washroom and a mid-afternoon dip, a Naturehike quick dry towel packs small and dries before you need it again.
  • BBQ and campfire gear rent on site, but weekends run out early. Bringing your own Blackdog grill guarantees the grill-night dinner without waiting for the rental queue.
