02 🌲 The Vibe

Kerling is the last town before the road starts climbing to Fraser's Hill, and Camp Adventure sits right in that green pocket — a grassy, riverside camping ground with the river running through the site, framed by Fraser's Hill and Gunung Semangko. Reviewers describe it as comfortable and not too crowded, with spacious numbered plots (A1-A3, G1, S1-S3), clean toilets with showers, plug points at the plots, and a pool for the non-river crowd.

The river is the main event: clean, clear, kids-friendly in the shallows and rocky with big boulders further out. Nights are for campfires (bring your own firewood) and star gazing, and the owner is famously friendly on WhatsApp. It is also one of the more pet-friendly campsites in Selangor — dogs are welcome.

03 🚗 Getting There

Camp Adventure is at Jalan Berlian Utama, 44100 Kerling (plus code JJ75+6R), about 10 minutes past Kuala Kubu Bharu in Hulu Selangor — from KL it's roughly 1-1.5 hours via the LATAR highway toward Kuala Kubu Bharu, then follow the road toward Fraser's Hill country. The final stretch of road into the site is unsealed, but reviewers say it's generally fine for a standard sedan; the entrance itself is described as a bit tight. Parking is on site.

🚗 ~1-1.5 hr from KL (Hulu Selangor)📍 JJ75+6R, 44100 Kerling🅿 Parking on site🛣 Unsealed final stretch — sedan OK

Telco reception is weak in the valley — reviewers report one bar of Celcom/Maxis 4G and barely-usable U Mobile, so download offline maps before you leave. The last stretch is unsealed but manageable for standard cars.

04 🛏️ Staying at Camp Adventure Kerling

It's all BYO tent camping on numbered grassy plots (A, G & S lots) — no glamping domes here, just big riverside pitches. Reviewers report lots spacious enough for several tents at once (G1 fit five tents plus a flysheet), with plug points available at night. Electricity is generator-based and the site provides lighting, so it's not total darkness after sunset. Campfires are allowed but bring your own firewood and a campfire stand — the site is grassy and wood runs out. Rates are not published anywhere: book over call or WhatsApp and confirm the price directly.

  • BYO tent plots (A / G / S) - Numbered grassy lots — spacious (G1 fit ~5 tents + flysheet), plug points at night, generator-powered site lighting.
  • Campfire - Allowed, but BYO firewood and a campfire stand — the site is grassy and on-site wood isn't always available.
  • Rates - No public rates — call/WhatsApp 010-423 6621 to book a plot and confirm pricing.
⛺ Camping & policies — booking is via call/WhatsApp 010-423 6621 (no website, no online booking). The site isn't a private compound: a driveway to Dusun Haji Radi passes through, so expect occasional non-camper traffic. There's no surau on site — Muslim campers plan to pray outdoors. Electricity is generator-based, and the access driveway is shared with the neighbouring orchard.

"So glad to be back camping after the long puasa and raya break. We stayed at A2 riverside, loved hearing the rushing sound of the river. The CO was really friendly and helpful from the start. The river water was clear and cold, and my kids had a blast swimming. Just a few things that could be improved: 1) would be awesome if the CO could clear the dried leaves on both sides of the site, would feel a bit safer. 2) toilet and parking area are quite far if you’re staying by the riverside, so loading/unloading gear is a bit of a hassle. Overall, we had a great time here, definitely enjoyed the semi-wild camping vibe!"

★★★★★

"Great place to camp. CO was very friendly. Campsite was clean, have plug point at night. Clean toilet. At night, the campsite is a bit hot, so bring your own fan. River was clean and kids friendly. But there were some slippery stone in the river. The entrance road is a bit tough to enter. Staying at G1, the lot was big and enough for us to open around 5 tents plus 1 flysheet for common area. Some spot a bit slanted. As a conclusion, I have a good time staying here."

★★★★☆

"If you're New to camping it may not be perfect but it's good. Toilet is all in one including showers. They're clean. The site also provide lightings so its not total darkness without campfire. There's also small kitchen stands to wash dishes and the water is strong on the taps. If you want to make a campfire you better bring the firewood from home. The site will ran out of them and not always available. Also bring campfire stand because the site is grassy There's pool facility if you're worried about kids playing in the river and yes river is the main attraction. Its clean but has big boulders in it.…"

"Campsite near river and facilities (Sink and toilet). At night they have solar lamp nearby. The river has steep and deep area too. Suitable for both adult and kids. We got stargazing view too. Overall great campsite."

★★☆☆☆

"Was at plot A3 on 9-May Prior to my visit, the latest review is dated 7 months ago. Most of the previous reviews were fairly positive. I hope I was just experiencing an isolated incident. Setbacks: 1. During my visit, there were trash leftover by campers. At A3, there was a large drinking water plastic bottle, and a tub of Planta, along with bigger piles of trash items visibly spotted at A2. Eyesore in the serene outdoor ambience. It reflected the lack of proper maintenance given to this site. 2. The campsite was using fuel-based generator. The generator wasn’t an issue.…"

- Google reviewer — clean & practical

Google's rating spread (4.8★ / 50 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is one of the cleaner ones in Hulu Selangor: the praise clusters around the river (31 mentions), clean toilets (8), plug points (7), clear water (7) and a clean campsite (7), plus star gazing and spacious lots. The realistic middle: the river is rocky with boulders and slippery stones, nights run warm (bring a fan), the site is generator-run and not a private compound, and telco signal is weak. Owner friendliness and the pet-friendly policy get consistent shout-outs.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip

Our take on gear & planning
  • The river is rocky, not sandy — this is the #1 camper warning here. Big boulders and slippery stones come up again and again in reviews; a pair of Naturehike wading shoes makes the crossing to the deeper pools far less dramatic.
  • Cold, clear water means you'll want to dry off between dips. A Naturehike quick dry towel packs small and is dry again by the next swim.
  • Plot life here is picnic life. There's no on-site shop mentioned in reviews, so a Blackdog cooler box keeps drinks and snacks cold on the grass while you're in the river.
  • Star gazing is a real review theme at this site. Spread a Mobi Garden picnic mat on the grass after dark and look up — the plots stay open and the site keeps things low-key at night.
