02 🌲 The Vibe

Willow Tree is the quiet end of the Hulu Langat camping scene — a tiny hilltop ground above Jalan Genting Peras where the whole point is the view: open mountain horizons and a sea of clouds rolling through at sunrise. Reviewers describe it as a beautiful place on top of a hill about an hour from KL, clean and organised, and genuinely quiet — the site takes only about six tents, so you are not sharing the ridge with a crowd. Nights are lit by solar lights; mornings are mist and coffee weather. Keep facility expectations at 'bare necessities' and you will love it.

03 🚗 Getting There

Willow Tree sits on Jalan Genting Peras-Kuala Kelawang (route B32) in Hulu Langat, Selangor — plus code 4WM8+8P, about an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur. The camp is on top of a hill, so the last stretch is a winding climb; take it slow in a low car. There is no official website or online booking — it's a small family-run site, so call 011-5924 4620 ahead to confirm access and your pitch.

🚗 ~1 hr from KL📍 4WM8+8P, 43100 Hulu Langat⛰ Hilltop — last stretch is a climb📞 Call to confirm (no website)

Reviewers say the approach is straightforward for a day trip from KL or Selangor — the hilltop location is the draw, not the road. Call ahead: with no booking page, the phone number is the only way to lock in a spot.

04 🛏️ Staying at Willow Tree

One way to stay, done properly: BYO tent camping on the grassy hilltop pitches — the site is small (about six tents) and deliberately quiet, so you bring everything and the view does the rest. Reviewers report paying around RM150 for a night; there is no online booking, so call 011-5924 4620 to confirm rates and availability.

  • BYO tent pitch - ~RM150/night per tent (camper-reported, confirm by phone) — grassy hilltop spots with open mountain views.
  • Small-site etiquette - The ground fits roughly six tents; weekends fill up through word of mouth — book early by phone.
  • Self-contained stay - No store or glamping units on site — pack food, water and gear for a fully self-sufficient night.
⛺ Booking & policies — no official website or online booking: call 011-5924 4620 to reserve and confirm the current rate (one camper reports RM150/night). Facilities are basic (bare-needs toilet, washbasin, BBQ pit, solar lights), so treat this as a self-sufficient camp: bring your own water, food and lighting.

"A great place for a short getaway away from the city, just about an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur or Selangor. I never knew there was such a beautiful place on top of a hill. The payment depends on the promotion at the time, so there may be changes each time. I stayed for 2 days and 1 night. It would be even better if the weather is cool and cloudy, as you can fully enjoy the scenery. Be careful when driving up the hill because the road from the entrance is very steep. Advance booking is required, as walk-ins are not allowed. Campsites are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis,…"

★★★★★

"Can't believe there is a campsite with such wonderful views located in Selangor. The campsite is clean with decent facilities, but it doesn't seem to have rubbish bin. The site is also not very big, so it shouldn't be overcrowded, however, sometimes can hear motorcycles noise from nearby roads and some machine noise, not sure where it come from. The site does not require 4x4 vehicle to access. It is a bit cold during midnight, keep in mind to bring a jacket or blanket. The booking process is straight forward, owner is very responsive. The refund of the garbage deposit is practically immediate after checking out."

"The site provides exceptional view with even sea cloud in the morning. Site is rather clean and organised and it suits those that would like more quiet time due to the space could only accommodate up to 6 tents. Toilet is bare necessities level."

"Good place for camping with a nice view and a calm environment. However, the maintenance could be improved. The common area shown in previous photos and videos has already been removed. The toilets are clean and well maintained."

"The scenery is nice, but that’s all. Paid 150 for a night in a condition like this…. Broken bbq, completely broken down hut, the toilet didn’t have lock, and worst of all it wasn’t flushed. There was poop inside with horrible smell of pee, and there was MAGGOTS swimming inside the toilet. Had to cancel for next day and can’t get a refund to this horrifying experience. Wasted 150, rather go to glamping with this price. PS. The amount of mosquitoes are horrendous and the motor bikes are so loud, no peace at all. Will not come here ever again."

Google's rating spread (4.3★ / 46 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) splits along one line: the views, quiet and clean site get near-universal praise — the sea of clouds comes up in 4 reviews by name — while the facilities and value divide people. One recent review calls the scenery nice 'but that's all' at RM150 with a broken BBQ and rough toilet; others say the site is clean and organised with a toilet that is fine at 'bare necessities' level. Book with the right expectations: this is a view-first, bring-your-own-everything campsite.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip

Our take on gear & planning
  • Sea-of-cloud mornings are misty mornings. Everything at Willow Tree is dewy by sunrise — a Naturehike quick dry towel dries fast between the tent and the view point.
  • The on-site BBQ pit is bare-bones — one reviewer found theirs broken. A Mobi Garden grill that fits in the boot means dinner is on you, not on the state of the camp pit.
  • Solar lights run the site at night — they work, but they are few. A Blackdog camping light on your table turns dinner hour from dim to comfortable, without a generator in sight.
  • Hilltop nights get properly cool. Even in the dry season the ridge drops after dark — a Naturehike sleeping bag is the difference between a great sunrise and a shivery one.
