WildRock Campsite Perak

01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
WildRock is the unhurried end of the Kuala Kangsar river scene — a camping ground inside a durian farm, where the river runs cool and clear beside the pitches and the site runs on solar power with no plug points. Reviewers describe secluded spots where a few tents camp together in private, clean toilets and showers, and a host who shares kampung durian and even cooks bubur durian for guests.
There are glamping tents for the less rugged, a river that kids swim in for hours, and nasi lemak you order in advance at check-in. Simple, off-grid and genuinely welcoming — that is the WildRock pitch.
03 🚗 Getting There
WildRock sits in Padang Rengas, in the Kuala Kangsar district of Perak (plus code QR3Q+R8), a short drive off the North-South Expressway's Padang Rengas / Kuala Kangsar exits — roughly an hour from Ipoh and about 1.5 hours from Penang. The site is tucked into a forested farm valley, so follow the GPS rather than expecting signage on the main road. Reviewers describe it as a hidden gem that feels deep in the forest, yet stays convenient to Rumah Changkat (breakfast), Moncoff Coffee and Malina Cafe (dinner) nearby.
The site feels remote once you're in, but the trip out for meals is easy — reviewers regularly name Rumah Changkat, Moncoff Coffee and Malina Cafe as nearby stops. Mobile signal is weak inside the valley; WhatsApp still works, but download your maps and directions before you leave town.
04 🛏️ Staying at WildRock
Three ways to stay: BYO tent camping on secluded riverside and forest pitches, glamping tents that come set up with fire pits, and a farm house stay for non-campers (one reviewer's family of five slept comfortably in the riverfront house). Rates are not published anywhere public — booking runs through the Facebook page or a call to 018-918 4990, and the host handles everything personally.
- BYO tent camping - Secluded pitches along the river and in the orchard — quiet, private, and made for small groups camping together. Call 018-918 4990 for rates.
- Glamping tent - Set-up tents with brick fire pits and cooking areas (per reviewer photos) — confirm availability and price by phone or Facebook.
- Farm house stay - A riverfront house with kitchen, bedroom and spotless bathroom — reviewers mention it fitting a family of five comfortably.
05 🛠 Facilities
🌊 River— clear, cool water right beside the site; reviewers describe swimming, wading and kids playing in the river for hours. It runs cold, which is exactly the point on a Perak afternoon.
🔆 Solar-powered— the site runs on solar energy with no plug points; solar lamps light the common areas at night and the host provides lamps, fans and power banks for the house. Genuine off-grid, not just a label.
🥘 Food & farm— nasi lemak ordered in advance at check-in gets consistent praise, and the surrounding durian trees are the real attraction: in durian season, the host shares kampung durian and even makes bubur durian for guests.
06 💬 What Campers Are Saying
"Our original booking got canceled while we were in Ipoh, but we were so lucky to find this place last minute. The host welcomed us with open arms, making us feel right at home. The house is right by a peaceful river and the sound of the water was so relaxing. The kitchen had a lovely view and the cozy bedroom fit our family of five (2 adults, 3 kids) perfectly. The outdoor space was really practical and the bathroom was spotless. The property is huge with so much to explore. My kids had the best time swimming and playing in the river for hours. We also walked around the farm, which was well-kept even though it’s deep in the forest.…"
"Cant ask for a better campsite !! CO is very accommodating, actively asking us if we are comfortable and checking if there's anything else we need. Pls order nasi lemak for breakfast with him, scrumptious! Stream along this campsite has lots of "pools" to swim in. I spent hours floating, staring into the sky, getting lost in thought. CO can consider adding some twisted cotton rope at the end of the pools in the stream for extra safety, esp for childrens. The toilet are clean and smell pleasant. Body wash and hair shampoo are provided, and they are fragrant, doesn't smell cheap. For those chronically online,…"
"Great nature preserved campsite. We spent a few days here and had a wonderful time. The place is very well done, offering different secluded camp places were you can put a few tents together. This makes it ideal for bigger groups which want to be together and enjoy the privacy of a secluded location. The site is very well maintained and very clean. It offers toilettes and showers, water taps and is powered by solar energy. We love the privacy offered by the site and also well preserved the nature is. Next to the camp site there is a river in which one can have a nice and cooling bath. All in all, this is a highly recommendable campsite.…"
"Very good experience and awesome place to relax, enjoyed the cool river water. Delicious Nasi lemak need to order in advance during check in. Toilet facilities on upgrading process to serve you better. Sufficient solar power lighting for general area at night. Campsite was surrounded by Durian trees, so best to go during Durian season, never knew you will have change to enjoy the Durian."
"Great and big camping with good facilities and food service. If you come from the town, you will go through a tunnel and from there it about 75% 2.8km unpaved road, but relatively good condition and no problem to cycle slowly."
Google's rating spread (4.8★ / 64 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is close to uniformly positive: the highs are the river, the durian orchard and the genuinely off-grid solar setup, plus clean toilets and a host that reviewers repeatedly call welcoming. The caveats are real but minor: no electricity and no plug points (pack power banks), weak mobile signal in the valley, and one older review noted the toilets were being upgraded at the time. A single recent visitor reported being told the campsite is Muslim-only — with the on-site prayer room, that policy claim is worth confirming directly with the host if you are booking as a non-Muslim group. For everyone else, this is about as close to a private river camp as Perak gets.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip
- The river is clear, cool and made for wading. The rocky bits are easier on the feet with a pair of Naturehike wading shoes — and they dry fast for the walk back up to the pitch.
- River days mean your phone is one splash away from a swim. Keep it in a Naturehike phone waterproof bag while the kids are in the water — the signal is weak anyway, so the phone's main job here is photos.
- There are no plug points — the whole camp runs on solar. Common areas get solar lamps at night, but your own pitch stays dark once the sun drops, so a Blackdog camping light is the single most useful thing you'll pack.
- Durian season is the real draw. The camp sits inside the orchard and the host shares kampung durian with guests — spread a Blackdog picnic mat under the trees and eat it right where it fell.
