02 🌲 The Vibe

Tok Mat is a village glamping site wrapped around an old mining pool in the oil-palm and durian country of Kg Paya Rengas, Ipoh. Reviewers call it serene and back-to-nature — roosters crowing at dawn, tall durian trees shading the grounds — while the activity list keeps the kids busy: kayaking, paddle boating, fishing, archery, cycling and swimming. The owner gets name-checked again and again (friendly owner ×9 in the review themes), and the white bell tents are described as clean and comfortable. It's the kind of place where a RM10 fishing rod rental and a campfire close out the day.

03 🚗 Getting There

From Ipoh town it's roughly 20 minutes into the village area at Kg Paya Rengas / Kg Kepayang (plus code F4X7+RP, 31300 Ipoh). A sedan handles the road fine.

- Google reviewer — overall experience

Google's rating spread (4.4★ / 72 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is positive across the board: the recurring highs are the water activities (kayaking, swimming, paddle boat), the serene village setting and the friendly owner, with clean and comfortable tents a consistent theme. The caveats are mild — reviewers mention it gets hot in the daytime, the roosters start early, and there are no published rates, so pricing runs through a phone call to the owner.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip

Our take on gear & planning
  • Kayaking laps mean your phone rides in a dry pouch. The mining pool is the main event here — before you push off, drop the phone in a Naturehike phone waterproof bag and paddle without the worry.
  • The pool edge is uneven — sandals aren't enough. Between kayaking, paddle boating and the fishing pond, a pair of Naturehike wading shoes makes every water stop more comfortable.
  • BBQ evenings are the routine here — keep the drinks cold. Reviewers mention BBQ and campfire nights on the regular; a Blackdog cooler box keeps drinks and ikan bakar ingredients chilled for the whole group.
  • Park yourself on the pond edge while the kids fish. Rods rent for ~RM10 and the angling is good — spread out a Mobi Garden picnic mat and make an afternoon of it.
