02 🌲 The Vibe

Tok Gindo is the quiet, family end of the Hulu Langat river scene — a riverside ground at Batu 22 in Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Pomsom where reviewers keep coming back to the same words: serene, private and clean.

The river runs beside the pitches, plug points stay live 24 hours, there's a prayer room and a clean toilet block, and day-trippers rent gazebos and raised pangkin platforms instead of pitching tents. The evening highlight is string lights over the tent lines with the river doing its thing.

03 🚗 Getting There

Tok Gindo sits at Batu 22 on the road into Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Pomsom, in the hills east of KL (plus code 6V6C+5Q, 43100 Hulu Langat). The last stretch is a village dirt track — fine in dry weather, but worth calling ahead after heavy rain, since reviewers note the rain does affect the experience. Parking is on site, and reviews specifically call out the ample parking right next to the gazebos.

04 🛏️ Staying at Tok Gindo

Three ways to use the site: BYO tent camping on riverside pitches, gazebo or gondola rental for day trips, or a pangkin platform for a lazy river day. Reviewers describe the rentals as spacious — one gondola comfortably fit 8-10 people — but note the gazebos sit close to each other, so book more than one for a big group. Rates aren't published anywhere, so everything is confirmed by phone.

  • BYO tent camping - Riverside pitches — no published rates; call 013-364 9484 to confirm per-night pricing.
  • Gazebo / gondola rental - Day-trip shelters; reviewers say one gondola comfortably fit 8-10 people. Gazebos sit fairly close together — take more than one for big groups.
  • Pangkin rental - Raised platform seating by the river — a popular pick for families who want the water without the tent.
⛺ Booking & policies — no website: everything goes through 013-364 9484. Confirm rates, gazebo availability and group sizes by phone or WhatsApp before you go. Reviewers also recommend checking the weather — heavy rain genuinely changes the river experience here.

05 🛠 Facilities

🌊 River access🔌 24h plug point🚻 Clean toilets🕌 Prayer room💧 Cold tap water🌳 Shady area🛖 Gazebo & gondola rental🪵 Pangkin rental🅿 Parking

🌊 River & water— the river runs right beside the site and 'river' is the single most-mentioned topic in reviews (19 mentions); the tap water is cold and clean, a small detail reviewers notice.

🔌 Power & comfort— plug points running 24 hours, a clean (if compact) toilet block, a prayer room and plenty of shade. Gazebos and pangkin platforms rent out for day trips, with ample parking right next to them.

🪑 Seating & setup— hired gazebo seating is basic, so regulars bring their own camping chairs to make the rented space comfortable for a full day by the river.

★★★★★

"My experience wasn’t so pleasant due to the raining weather but understood it’s not something the human being can handle. Speaking of the campsite, I love it. It’s quite spacious and clean. Everywhere is well illuminated and feel safe. Weather is cooling due to the rain. There are basins and dished waster equipped. There was a big trash bin available at the car park area for the camper to dispose rubbish upon departure. The location is lovely located along the riverbank. The camp map is clear and easy for booking reference.…"

"The location is good, quite clean, serene place and private, away from public..thou the gazebo is a bit close to each other, but if u take more than 1 would be ok and it does have ample parking space next to the gazebos..its just that, if could add more toilet or open showers and also wudu' area that are women friendly would be nice..but overall it was a good experience..will repeat insyaAllah"

- Google reviewer — location & setting
★★★★☆

"I camped 2D1N on 8-9 June 2024 & I was told the campsite was only 1 month old so everything looks neat & clean. The river is just nice for children but maybe not deep enough for adults. There are about 15 lots with 3/4 of the lots are under the trees (lots TG 12 to TG15 have no shade/trees). There are 2 toilets & 2 showers and are clean but there is no wakaf (to pray for those with small tent but I believe that is under their planning to build soon). Plug points are available but do pay attention to the time of availability (9am - 2pm & 7pm - 2 am - powered by generator).…"

★★★☆☆

"The environment at this riverside campsite is quite nice. I liked that the water was clean (at least the tap water), and the toilet, although small, was clean too. I rented a gondola, which was spacious enough to comfortably fit 8–10 people. You can bring your own BBQ set and have a barbecue there, which is a plus. The location is slightly higher—around the third highest spot along the river—so the water is usually okay. However, I went during a holiday season and it was really crowded. Because of that, the river water had a bit of a smell. I believe it would be better during non-peak times. Overall, I give it 3 stars.…"

Google's rating spread (4.4★ / 66 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) skews positive with the caveats out in the open: the river, the cleanliness and the private, serene setting carry the high marks, while the honest middle notes that gazebos sit close together and that rain genuinely changes the experience — one reviewer's whole visit was dampened by the weather. Clean toilets, 24-hour plug points and the prayer room get consistent, specific praise.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip

Our take on gear & planning
  • The river is the site's #1 review topic — 19 mentions and counting. Wading and paddling is the whole point at Tok Gindo, and you want your feet protected in the shallows — a Naturehike wading shoes gets you in and out of the water without drama.
  • Post-wade, you dry off fast or carry the river with you. A Naturehike quick dry towel packs small and is dry again by the next swim.
  • The 24h plug points keep your gear alive — keep the drinks cold too. For a family day at the gazebo, a Blackdog cooler box beats trekking to the tap every hour.
  • Shade is a theme here — claim your spot properly. The site is known for its shady corners; a Mobi Garden picnic mat turns any patch of riverside grass into the family base.
