02 🌲 The Vibe

Sojuk Riverside sits on the Jalan Batang Kali - Genting Highlands road, in the same green pocket as Dusun Apak Kawww — a wide, grassy riverside camping ground where the river runs shallow and slow enough for kids to play in all day. Reviewers describe it as a spacious site with numbered pitches, a plug point at every site, clean toilets with washbasins and a surau on site.

The stream isn't the most scenic in Selangor — reviewers say so themselves — but the wide site and the easy river access make up for it, and nights up here at the foot of Genting run properly cold. Food is served on site (the fish gets fried fresh when you arrive), the owner is consistently described as friendly and helpful, and campers keep coming back with their kids.

03 🚗 Getting There

Sojuk Riverside is at Jln Batang Kali - Genting Highlands, Kampung Kuantan, 44300 Batang Kali (plus code CMXP+4X), in the same area as Dusun Apak Kawww. From KL it's about an hour via Ulu Yam or the KL-Karak Highway, per long-time reviewers — the road climbs gently toward Genting and the site sits on the Batang Kali side. The entrance is a little narrow for two-way traffic, so take it slow on the way in. Parking is on site.

🚗 ~1 hr from KL (via Ulu Yam / Karak)📍 CMXP+4X, 44300 Batang Kali🅿 Parking on site🛣 Narrow entrance — take it slow

Nights run cold at this elevation — reviewers report not even needing a fan, so pack a layer or a decent sleeping bag. The site is inside the Dusun Apak Kawww area, so the surroundings stay green and quiet.

04 🛏️ Staying at Sojuk Riverside

It's mostly BYO tent camping on wide grassy pitches (~RM50/tent/night, reviewer-reported), with tent rental available on site for campers without gear, and a handful of basic chalets (~RM100/night, reviewers say small and simple, no air-conditioning). Each site has its own plug point for electricity. There's no official price list and no website — book and confirm by calling 017-376 5668.

  • BYO tent pitch - ~RM50/tent/night (reviewer-reported) — wide grassy numbered pitches, plug point at each site, some close to the river.
  • Tent rental - Available on site — reviewers mention renting gear rather than bringing their own.
  • Chalet - ~RM100/night (reviewer-reported) — small basic unit with no air-conditioning; reviews call it the weakest part of the site.
  • Booking - No website or online booking — call 017-376 5668 to confirm rates and availability.
⛺ Camping & policies — booking is by phone (017-376 5668); one reviewer was told to simply walk in when enquiring a week ahead, so call ahead to lock your date. The river is shallow enough for kids but the bottom is stony — wading shoes help. Ants get mentioned in reviews: keep food sealed and off the ground. Nights are cold at this elevation.

"Spacious campsite. We got site no 15. Not far from the toilet. Toilets are clean, washbasin available. The river is not too deep for kids to play. It’s cold at night so we didnt need to use a fan. Rates are reasonable. We paid RM50 per tent per night (Tenda 4 Teepee). Would come here again."

★★★★★

"Complete facilities with a plugpoint at each sites and clean toilets. Don't have that great view but still enough to feel the nature. At least for my daughter, she enjoys the river so much. CO granddaughters were there, so they played together and had so much fun."

- Google reviewer — clean & practical

"nice placed for beginner camping as me, to learn survival mode.lobe this placed sure will comeback. sleep in couch while company by moon. was a really hardly to forget the experience. & moments.Overall owner is helpful.Im enjoying in this placed."

- Google reviewer — friendly service
★★★★☆

"Cannot comment much because we were there for a late lunch. Our daughter-in-law got the reservation date mixed up so we had to rush there to avoid the prepared lunch being forfeited. Food was good and the operator only fried the fish when we arrived and waited for us till we finished - excellent service. Fish was fresh from their preservation pond. Very nice ambience and natural surroundings of big mature trees by the river. Grandchildren did manage to spend some quality time with their parents in the water (shallow, wade-able river). It is within a private property and if not mistaken by reservation only as space is limited.…"

"Nice place to create recreational moments with family and friends. May not provide you with the best stream but the wide camp site gives you the coziness all day long... A recommended place for an alternative camping experience."

Google's rating spread (4.1★ / 202 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026 — 108 five-star, 53 four-star, 17 three-star, 7 two-star and 17 one-star) is genuinely mixed, and the reviews explain why. The praise clusters around the shallow kid-friendly river, the plug point at every site, clean toilets, wide spacious pitches, the friendly owner and the food on site; the complaints centre on ants, limited water facilities and the small basic chalets (RM100 for a bare 10ft unit), plus a walk-in booking policy that frustrated one camper. It's a friendly, no-frills family riverside camp — not a scenic retreat.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip

Our take on gear & planning
  • The river here is shallow — but the bottom is stony. Kids wade for hours in this stream, and a pair of Naturehike wading shoes makes the rocky shallows comfortable for the whole day.
  • River days are phone-danger days. Splashing kids, wet hands, a camera near the water — drop the phone in a Naturehike phone waterproof bag before the water games start.
  • Nights at the foot of Genting run properly cold. Reviewers say they didn't even need a fan — a Mobi Garden sleeping bag keeps the 2am chill off.
  • The ants are a real review theme here — mentioned by name in roughly 8 reviews. Keep snacks sealed and off the ground in a Blackdog storage box and you'll dodge most of the party.
