Gopeng Rainforest Resort

01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
Gopeng Rainforest Resort is the quiet, family-run end of the Gopeng outdoor scene — a rainforest lodge run by the same family for 16 years, where you can stay in a traditional Malay kampung house, a private chalet, or camp under the canopy.
Reviewers come back to the same things: the hosts David and Janice, the delicious home-style food, the cold misty mornings, and the sheer green around you — the place sits on a hill with an all-round view of the forest. It's a base for the classic Gopeng adventure list: white-water rafting, abseiling, caving, rafflesia hikes and Orang Asli village visits, with the Kuala Razila river a short walk away for a rinse-off afterwards.
03 🚗 Getting There
From Gopeng town it's a short drive up into the forest (plus code F646+J8, 31600 Gopeng). The resort is on a hill above the Kampar valley, well signed and with its own car park. Coming from Ipoh it's about 20 minutes via the Gopeng exit; from KL on the North-South Highway it's roughly 2.5 hours. Last stretch is uphill into the trees — take it easy in the wet.
Guests rave about the cool evening breeze after rain and misty mornings — the forest elevation does the work. The resort is walkable to Kuala Razila, so plan a river stop on the way down.
04 🛏️ Staying at Gopeng Rainforest

06 💬 What Campers Are Saying
"We went there for one night stay. Hosts Janice and David were very friendly and amazing. They made effort to show us around and made sure we were comfortable. The amenities were basic but everything (bathroom, room, kitchen) was clean. The food they prepared was amazing. They personalised the menu and everything was deliciously home cooked. We went hiking to see the rafflesia as well as enjoyed the 'spa' in the nearby waterfall. The rafflesia hike arranged by Janice and David was led by a local guide that pointed out interesting plants on the way. We even managed to see the flowers at different budding stages.…"
"It was a wonderful experience!! The hospitality of the owner family here is truly amazing❤️ We were deeply impressed by their hospitality. Three meals are provided daily. We enjoyed a wide variety freshly prepared meals, and everything was delicious. They even prepared non-spicy food for the children. The amenities are simple, but the room was tidy and comfortable. They drove us to the river. The river is within walking distance from the lodge. Next time, we'd like to participate in the activities. Thank you for the wonderful experience."
"David and Janice are hospitable and very good company. Their meals are varied and delicious. Active people are catered for. We did the trekking, waterfall and white water rafting. The resort setting is relaxing and communal. Plenty of global problems were solved late into the night over a glass of ones preferred beverage. A great experience for groups of family, friends and colleagues."
"Well i rate it a full star because i am an adventurous man. This is the place for challenges yet relaxing. Located in a rainforest village. Every morning you will experience the cold weather. The food? Very delicious."
"We took 2 houses (landed area) with delicious breakfast. Janice are really helpful and friendly. She gave us tips and the attractions places nearby. Our kids enjoyed played in front of our houses as there is huge field surrounded by orchards."
Google's rating spread (4.6★ / 50 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is uniformly positive — the scores cluster at 5★ with a handful of 4★. The recurring themes are the host family's hospitality, the delicious home-style food, and the cool forest setting; the caveats are mild — it's a basic, no-frills stay (kampung-style rooms, no luxury touches) and the location is up a hill road, so it suits people who came for the outdoors, not the amenities.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip
- A river day at Kuala Razila means your phone goes in a dry bag. The crystal-clear waters are the walk-to highlight — a Naturehike phone waterproof bag keeps it safe while you wade.
- Post-river towel is non-negotiable. Between rafting, the river walk and a humid rainforest afternoon, a Naturehike quick dry towel dries fast enough to reuse the same day.
- Keep drinks cold for the BBQ evening. The resort has BBQ sets and a fruit orchard — a Blackdog cooler box holds the ice for a full evening on the grounds.
- Claim your patch of grass. The open grounds and orchard are the campers' living room — a Mobi Garden picnic mat makes the post-rain afternoon lounging actually comfortable.
