Belantara Resort

01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
Belantara is the quiet, green end of Perak glamping — a resort folded into the kampung at the foot of Bubu Hill, where the Lubok River runs past the site and the night lights come on across the tent rows. The official site sells it as glamorous camping plus kampung-style wooden chalets, and reviewers keep repeating the same words: peaceful, relaxing, clean, friendly.
There is a mini waterpark for the kids, ATV rides, and a cafe that does food and board games — so it is family-friendly rather than wilderness, and the river is the best free amenity on the list.
03 🚗 Getting There
Belantara sits in Kampung Sungai Lubok, a village in the Terong area near Trong, Perak (plus code PPCW+3P). From Taiping it's about a 40-minute drive; from Ipoh roughly 1 hour 15 minutes via the North-South Highway. One honest heads-up from reviewers: the last stretch of access road is crusher-run gravel, not tarmac — one guest called it 'very bad access', so go slow and expect dust. The site itself has parking and a buggy service once you're in.
Reviewers agree the setting is worth the gravel: a peaceful kampung valley, lush greenery and a gently flowing river. The owner has replied to the road complaints saying improvements are underway — but plan your arrival in daylight.
04 🛏️ Staying at Belantara
Two ways to stay: glamping in fully furnished air-conditioned tents (the 'quadruple tent' reviewers keep mentioning — beds, AC, shared toilets kept surprisingly clean), or kampung-style wooden chalets for families who want walls. Rates are not published online — booking runs through the website or WhatsApp, and you confirm price when you enquire.
- Glamping tent (aircon) - Quadruple tents with beds and cold air-con — 'clean, spacious' per reviewers, with shared toilets outside the tent.
- Kampung-style chalet - Wooden chalets for families who prefer solid walls; the pretty-night-lights reviews mostly come from this side.
- Booking & policy - Book via belantararesort.com.my or WhatsApp; the operator enforces a 7-day notice for date changes.
05 🛠 Facilities
🌊 River & mini waterpark— the Lubok River is clean and calm for soaking and river bathing, and the mini waterpark with slides keeps the kids busy on site.
🚙 Activities— ATV rides (arranged outside the resort), board games at the cafe, and a gorgeous waterfall nearby is a recurring theme in reviews.
🍽 Dining— the restaurant gets consistent praise for its buffet breakfast and dinner, with teh tarik and coffee at the cafe as small local pleasures.
06 💬 What Campers Are Saying
"We took the opportunity to enjoy a short two-night getaway at Belantara Resort in Trong, Perak. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the resort offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere surrounded by lush greenery and a gently flowing river that runs through the property. The soothing sound of the water creates a calming environment, making it the perfect place to unwind, recharge, and escape from the stresses of daily life. Belantara Resort offers several unique accommodation options, including glamping units and tiny houses, each with its own charm and character.…"
"My 1st time family glamping experience. Overall very happy with the place. Friendly staff, good and clean tent. Suprisingly very clean washroom/bathroom which located outside of the tent. I book there on weekend, thefore the breakfast and dinner comes with buffet meal which a decent buffet for me and my family consider it is located few km far from the main road. The tent (2 queen bed with air conditioning) is clean and spacious. Walking distance to enjoy the cold breeze of mini waterfall / air terjun and anak sungai(river), where the water is clean & clear. A lot of activities that can be done here (just check their social media pages),…"
"Had a wonderful stay at Belantara Resort! The atmosphere is amazing surrounded by greenery, very chill and incredibly relaxing. It’s the perfect place to unwind and disconnect from the busy city life. The glamping tent was clean and spacious, and the toilet facilities were well-maintained too. Everything felt comfortable and thoughtfully prepared. The staff were very accommodating and friendly, which made the whole experience even more pleasant. Since we stayed over the weekend, dinner and breakfast were provided. Special shoutout to the BBQ chicken during dinner, it was absolutely delicious and, personally, even tasted better than Nando’s!…"
"Not value for money paid. Kid pool is under maintenance, we were not informed during booking through website n WhatsApp confirmation. Granted discount after complaint upon check in. Call for complimentary buggy service upon check out but the calls were not connected. ATV not available as they request minimum 3 ATV to go. Bumpy road access to the resort, which is not short one."
"Overall, the stay was good. The tent was clean, spacious, and the air conditioning was cold enough. The river was also clean. Cleanliness was generally good, but we found a mouse in the toilet. Food needs improvement as the taste was average and there were limited choices. Would consider coming back if the food and pest control are improved."
Google's rating spread (4.3★ / 213 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is solidly positive with a realistic tail. The highs are the air-conditioned glamping tents, the clean shared toilets, the river and the food; the caveats are the gravel access road, the odd value complaint (kid pool maintenance not flagged at booking) and a strict 7-day cancellation rule. Staff friendliness gets near-universal mention.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip
- The river is the main event — keep the phone dry. The Lubok River is clean and calm for soaking and river bathing; a Naturehike phone waterproof bag means the splash zone doesn't cost you a phone.
- Rocky riverbed? Wading shoes earn their space. River bathing is a top review theme and the stones are real — Naturehike wading shoes make the crossings a non-issue for the kids.
- Claim the riverbank with a picnic mat. Days at the mini waterpark and river are the highlight — a Mobi Garden picnic mat gives you a dry patch of grass for lunch between swims.
- Perak afternoons run hot — bring cold drinks. Reviewers note the daytime heat keeps people in the tents; a Blackdog cooler box keeps drinks cold by the pool and the buffet leftovers safe.
