Dusun Abu Campsite

01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
Dusun Abu is the relaxed, riverside end of the Batang Kali camping scene — a camping ground on an old orchard where the river runs calm and clear right beside the tapak. Reviewers agree on the essentials: the water is clean and kids-friendly, the facilities (toilets, showers, prayer room) stay clean, and the on-site groceries shop saves the forgotten-saucepan trip. The river is more float than adventure — water tubing on the calm stretch is the main activity — and there is a small dog contingent on site that reviewers note (harmless, but good to know). Pick your tapak wisely: Tapak Rambutan gets the shade and the praise, Tapak Bukit gets the night view and the uphill walk.
03 🚗 Getting There
Dusun Abu Campsite sits at Kampung Hulu Rening, 44200 Batang Kali (plus code FMVR+C8) — a short drive out of Batang Kali town toward the hills. From KL, allow about 1 to 1.5 hours via the Batang Kali / Genting route depending on traffic. The access road is village-road standard — fine for sedans, and there is parking on site.
Reviewers mention the dogs on site (two, reportedly friendly) — something to know in advance. And because the river runs through camp, check the weather before a rainy-weekend trip; the flow picks up after heavy rain.
04 🛏️ Staying at Dusun Abu
It's BYO tent camping on named tapak — reviewers report about RM70 per tapak per night. Each tapak is a cleared spot under the trees with river access; some have plug points. There is no glamping here — this is a bring-everything camp, with clean shared toilets, showers and a prayer room a short walk away.
- BYO tent tapak - ~RM70/tapak/night from reviews — named pitches under the trees; Tapak Rambutan is the shade favourite. Book by phone: 011-2669 6536.
- Tapak Bukit - Higher pitch with the night view — but toilets and the wash area mean a hike up the slope.
- Day visit / picnic - Day-trippers welcome; the on-site groceries shop and river access make it an easy picnic spot too.
05 🛠 Facilities
🌊 River & tubing— the river runs calm and clear beside the camp; the shallow part is kids-friendly and water tubing on the easy flow is the favourite pastime — bring a cooler box of cold drinks and make a day of it.
🏕 Tapak & power— several named pitches (Rambutan, Bukit and more) under the orchard trees; some tapak have plug points — reviewers have even brought a projector for movie night.
🚿 Facilities & shop— clean toilets, shower rooms and a prayer room, plus a small groceries shop on site for supplies you forgot.
06 💬 What Campers Are Saying
"I stayed one night and it was the best night ever. At first around 11 p.m. it kind of hot and it get colder in the morning. The facility are all clean. They have prayer room . Toilet and shower. For muslim watch out for the dogs(two only)but they won't go near. You could rent float for rm 15. Really enjoy here would totally recommend. Also there is shop you can bought ice there. If you want near river you should choose tapak rambutan not recommending tapak bukit or ubi as it both aren't near water"
"Great place for short trip. clean place and good facilities. Got it own groceries shop. Can go with picnic or camping. Great river experience, go for water tube and enjoy the flow of river. Recommended for 'Tapak Rambutan' if want to feel private because a bit far from other 'Tapak'.. Recommended for big family or couple trip.. Definitely will come again soon.."
"I am so in love with this campsite. The view is marvellous! The mandi sungai with Pelampung (water tubing) is a must try activity! As sides from that u can heard durian falling from tree during midnight 😅. Definitely will visit again!"
"Love the environment. So much closer to nature. Very cold during night time. Even the water river is cold. You may search contact no PIC in google. Friendly owners. I stay in "tapak induk", very privacy. Love it."
"This campsite got few tapak can choose. Each tapak charge Rm70 per night. But this time we only able to get tapak Bukit. This tapak very tired. Because if u want to go toilet, wash dish, wash cutlery stuff, Mandi etc, also need to hike up and down. Unless u Set a temporary toilet. But we are very enjoy with the river activities. This is the best place for your children to have water activities. After 3days2night, I feel my leg is not belong to mine. It’s really tired but happy. But if u let me to choose again, I think I would not to book tapak Bukit again."
Google's rating spread (4.3★ / 85 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is positive with a realistic middle: the consistent praise is the calm, clean river and the clean facilities; the caveats are that RM70 a tapak is a firm price for a bare pitch, some tapak (Bukit) come with a real uphill walk to the wash block, and the river is more float than adventure — lovely for kids, less so if you want rapids. The dogs on site get an honest mention in several reviews.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip
- The river is shallow and clear — that's the kids' corner. Water shoes make the rocky shallows comfortable for a whole day of splashing; grab a pair of Naturehike wading shoes before you go.
- After a tubing float, a quick-dry towel beats a wet bath towel. The calm stretch gets everyone wet in the first five minutes — a Naturehike quick dry towel is dry again before you're back at the tapak.
- The tapak have power points — reviewers bring projectors. Nights run warm around 11pm, so the upgrade that actually matters is a Wellhike camping fan to make the tent bearable.
- If you land Tapak Bukit, you'll earn the view. Toilets and the wash area sit up the hill — a Mobi Garden wagon hauls the gear up so your legs don't have to.
