Betong Riverside Campsite

01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
Betong Riverside is the quiet end of the Semungkis river scene — just nine lots on the riverbank, each with its own sink, tap water and plug point, plus a small kids area and clean toilets with rain showers. Reviewers call it a hidden gem: calm, uncrowded and well maintained, with the river right there for wading. The honest caveats are just as consistent — the lots are on the snug side, the generator hums at night, and water pressure drops at peak times.
03 🚗 Getting There
Betong Riverside sits in the Sumber air mineral valley, 43100 Hulu Langat (plus code 5R4G+P9), on the same river road as Hammocks By The River and Rumah Kebun Camping Ground. From KL it's roughly 45-60 minutes via the Grand Saga / Cheras–Kajang Highway through Hulu Langat town; the last stretch is a gravel access road with parking at the entrance. There's no official website — call 019-550 5970 to check availability before heading up.
With only nine lots, weekends fill fast — reviewers advise confirming a lot before the drive up. The access road is gravel; sedans are fine in dry weather.

06 💬 What Campers Are Saying
"Betong Riverside emerges as a hidden gem for those seeking a tranquil camping retreat. With just nine sites, this intimate campground offers a cozy escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Despite its petite size, Betong Riverside impresses with its thoughtful amenities. Each site is equipped with essential facilities, including a dedicated washing area, reliable electricity, and access to clean water. While the water pressure may occasionally lag, the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities are commendable. One aspect worth noting is the narrowness of the campsite. Campers should exercise caution,…"
"Very entertaining CO, the place is well maintained & toilets are clean. 2 toilet with rain shower for each male & female. Only 9 lots, and my favourite is lot 2-5. Each lot will have their own sink with tap water. Plug point is provided with a power from 7pm-7am. It just that it's a bit challenging to nail the ground because it contain rocks in between sand. Other than that, all good & will repeat agan"
"Recently opened campsite (dec 2023). The place is clean and well managed by the CO. . We had a wonderful 3d2n in this camp during the weekdays. We practically have the camp for ourselves for the 1st night and joined by the other on the 2nd night. . The night temperature here is great! You won't need a fan to cool you off. . The power generator is up by 7PM - 7Am"
"Very small and crowd campsite, however the facilities is good, hope CO can make the border of each “Tapak” more visible. The small river is okay but not at it’s best."
"A decent campsite. Only got 4 toilet provided, 2 for men and 2 for women. water pressure is too slow during peak usage. Each lot got individual plug point and sink. At night, the sound of genset quite noisy and disturbing. Got so many flies. Lucky we bring the flies trap. River bank got rubbish. And the most dissappointing is, if you come with your family members and sharing lot, extra car will be charged per pax, but the car need to park at the main roadside. So dangerous. Dont know what is the purpose paying extra. Not recommended, i will not repeat."
Google's rating spread (4.5★ / 30 reviews, checked 21 Aug 2026) is almost uniformly warm: the highs are the clean toilets, per-lot sink and plug point, the river and the calm, uncrowded atmosphere; the caveats are the generator noise at night and slow water pressure at peak times. Reviewers also note the lots are snug — bring a setup that fits.

08 🏕️ The Camp Tip
- River days start with the essentials protected. The kids area and wading spots put phones dangerously close to the water — a Naturehike phone waterproof bag stops the inevitable splash from becoming a drowned phone.
- The riverbed is rocky — pack proper wading shoes. Reviewers rave about the clean river for wading, but the bed is stones, not sand; a pair of Naturehike wading shoes makes the crossing comfortable for kids and adults alike.
- Nine lots means the riverbank is your living room. The lots are snug (reviewers say so), so the bank doubles as your lounge — a Blackdog picnic mat gives the kids a dry base right by the water.
- Keep dinner simple by the water. With no shop on site, the evening ritual is a riverfront BBQ — a compact Mobi Garden grill packs small into the boot and handles the family feed.
