02 🌲 The Vibe

UniCamp Merang (formerly IM4U Outreach Camp) is the official UniSZA campsite at Kampung Merang, Setiu, Terengganu, run by Pusat Pembangunan Holistik Pelajar (PPHP). The 2025 brochure lists campsite rates at just RM7/person, chalets RM80/night and dorms RM120/night, plus kayak, jungle trekking, night walk, jetty jump and obstacle-course activities from RM7/person. It is group-oriented (schools, agencies, corporate, family day) rather than a casual walk-in site, and bookings go through PPHP officers.

Getting there — Terletak di Kampung Merang (Pantai Merang), Setiu, Terengganu, lebih kurang 3 ekar; kira-kira 40-50 minit pemanduan dari pusat bandar Kuala Terengganu melalui jalan pantai. Berdekatan Setiu Wetlands dan Pantai Merang. Parking terbuka di kawasan kem (ruang luas untuk bas/van kumpulan).

UniCamp Merang is right on the sand — a Ise Mount tableware handles the beach day, and a Naturehike mosquito killing lamp keeps drinks and snacks cold for the crew.

Check the Hydrostatic Head (HH): Don't just trust marketing words. Look for tents with an outer layer rating of PU3000mm or higher (like Naturehike's or Blackdog's rain-proof models). This means it can withstand a 3-meter water column\u2014perfect for Malaysia's sudden downpours.
The Groundsheet is Non-Negotiable: Ground moisture and puddles will seep through the tent floor over time. Always lay down a dedicated waterproof groundsheet under your tent. Pro Tip: Make sure the groundsheet doesn't stick out from the tent edges, or it will act like a catch-basin and funnel rainwater right under your tent!
