02 🌲 The Vibe

Kampung-river chill: cool clean water, foggy mornings and zero frills — 'rasa macam betul betul di kashmir'.

Family-friendly and laid-back by day; dark, quiet and insect-noisy by night.

The kind of campsite where the owner hands you a hammer for the rocky ground and a fan for your tent.

Rough around the edges, honest pricing, and one of the cheapest proper river campsites in Kelantan.

03 🚗 Getting There

Entrance road is unlit, uneven and 'quite scary' at night; Very rocky ground — hard to hammer in tent pegs

04 🛏️ Staying at KASHMIR JELI CAMPSITE

A basic, dirt-cheap riverside kampung campsite on Sungai Pergau that locals call 'Little Kashmir' — cool clean river water, foggy mornings and warm kampung hospitality for just RM30 a night.

  • RM30 riverside site - One tapak costs just RM30 for 24 jam (2D1N) — or RM45 with a 24-hour plug point. The riverbank is split into leveled, stoned plots, each roughly big enough to park a car inside.
  • 'Little Kashmir' mornings - Dawn brings thick fog rolling off the river — reviewers say it genuinely feels like Kashmir. The water is clean, cool and shallow enough to wade into, with tube floats and rafting on offer.
  • Book by phone only - No online booking — call or WhatsApp En. Amir / Umi Jah at 019-5472371 or inbox the FB page. Get there early: the entrance road has no lights and is rough after dark.
Good to know

Booking & packing tips: Book your tapak by call/WhatsApp 019-5472371 (En. Amir / Umi Jah) or via the 'Kashmir Jeli CAMP SITE' Facebook page — there is no online booking. Bring sturdy pegs and a hammer: the ground is very rocky. Pack insect repellent (mosquitoes and caterpillars at night), a torch and a headlamp — the access road is dark and uneven, so arrive before sunset. Showers are basic outdoor units, but the friendly owner may let you use the homestay shower. Rafting (RM200/4 pax, RM400/8 pax) and tube floats can be arranged on site.

🏕️ Camp sites — Leveled, stoned riverbank plots — each about car-sized (a Perodua Axia fits inside). RM30/tapak per 24 jam, RM45 with a 24-hour plug point. Plots nearest the car-park exit sit closest to the toilet block.

🚻 Toilet & shower — Public toilet (cangkung), shower and sink are provided — reviews call them 'enough for camping'. The homestay owner sometimes lets campers use a more comfortable indoor shower, free.

🔌 Plug points & washing bay — Power points are spread evenly across the grounds (24-hour option for RM45), plus a washing bay — handy for rinsing gear after river time or charging phones overnight.

🔥 BBQ & picnic area — There's a BBQ area plus picnic spots along the river; day-trippers come just for picnics. The river here is shallow and rocky — safe-ish for cooling off, great for kids.

🕌 Surau & parking — A prayer room (surau) and parking right next to the tent sites make this an easy family camping spot — you can unload straight onto your tapak.

★★★

"I am somewhat amused by the high ratings here as there are no beautiful natural views here accept the river banks. There are several campsites along the riverbank for you to choose from. This site I'm at is nearer to the toilet at the exit of the car park. Grounds are granulated and clean. Power Point and washing bay spread out evenly. This campsite has no privacy so it is not secure, and feels kind of like a public area. Plenty of visitors walking by and there's no caretaker at night, only daytime there are someone around to collect fees and see if you need help with your tent set up. One of them offer me a hammer to pin down my tent pin as the grounds are very very rocky. A plus point, camping fees are reasonable for the facilities offered."
