02 🌲 The Vibe

Kale Pok Kie is a small family-friendly riverside campsite in Kg Batu Melintang, Jeli, Kelantan — run by owner Pok Kie, who helps set up tents and stays on duty day and night. The shallow clear river is safe for kids with supervision, life jackets and floats are for rent, and each tent site has plug points — a rare plus for kampung-style camping. Site fees are cheap at RM35 per tent for 3 days 2 nights. The catches: riverbed stones are sharp and slippery, the current strengthens toward the middle, and it is a remote 5–6 hour drive from KL — stock up in Jeli town first.

  • Wear river shoes - The riverbed is sharp and slippery — rubber shoes are essential in the water.
  • Stock up in Jeli - Last fuel and grocery stop is Jeli town; supplies are limited beyond that.
  • Book weekends early - The small site gets busy on weekends and school holidays.
The river is gentle near the bank but the current strengthens toward the middle — keep a close eye on children. Try the kelulut honey sold on site.

★★★★★

"Interesting experience camping here. Have camped here twice. The owner is very nice and very helpful. Easy to clean and easy to rent. For beginners who are not very good at setting up a tent, Pok Kie will definitely help you set it up. It's done in a moment. The river is clear and not deep. Suitable for children to bathe. You can rent a float with Pok Kie. The toilets are enough and clean. There is also a surau if you don't want to pray in the tent."
