HC House Of Art Campsite

01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
A tiny, family-run riverside camp where the owner knows everyone by name — Pokvic built it from scratch and campsite regulars have watched it grow.
Quiet, bat-friendly nights: mozzies stay low and the sound of Sungai Payong does the rest.
Basic but heartfelt — still a work in progress, one toilet block at a time.
Day-trippers head for Lata Payong waterfall 400 m away; campers stay for the clear water, the BBQ pit and the calm.
03 🚗 Getting There
Getting there — Jln Kg Payong, 21500 Sungai Tong, Terengganu — side road off Kuala Terengganu–Kota Bharu route (Fed Rt 3), ~4 km from Sungai Tong town, ~400 m from Lata Payong bridge. Accessible to all vehicle types (one reviewer cycled in).
Only 2 unisex toilets and 1 wash point — crowded when full; No hot water
04 🛏️ Staying at HC House Of Art Campsite
A tiny family-run campsite squeezed between the road and the clear waters of Sungai Payong, with the Lata Payong waterfall walk just 400 m away. Owner Pokvic built it himself — small, rustic and still improving, but genuinely friendly.
- Riverfront pitches - Only 8–9 tent sites right beside Sungai Payong, each a different size (an 8'×8' tent fits, two can squeeze onto some lots). Two access points lead down to the river rocks for swimming.
- Rustic, hands-on hosting - The owner briefs guests on safety, calls everyone up when rain is closing in, and is easy-going about questions — one reviewer has visited twice just to watch the campsite grow.
- Self-catering basecamp - A pantry with cooking, prep and dining facilities comes stocked with pans and cooking gear — you only bring food and a stove. Lights, a BBQ pit and electricity are provided (plug points are charged).
Book before you go — there are only 8–9 tent sites and reviews say to reserve via WhatsApp (+60 14-502 7837). Bring your own tent, stove and food (cooking gear is provided). Facilities are basic: 2 unisex toilets, one wash point, no hot water. Take care on the steep ~50% stair access to the river — there are gentler spots for kids and the elderly. Always watch weather warnings: the river here can surge fast, and the owner will call everyone up when rain is near.

06 💬 What Campers Are Saying
"This campsite situated right beside Sungai Payong and there are two access to the river rocks. Camp spaces are limited (9 sites) so do book in advance or call before going. CO is very friendly and helpful to make sure you are comfortable. There are 2 unisex toilets and only 1 wash point situated inside a kitchen area, so can get quite crowded when campsite is full. Some lots have less privacy, overlooking the kitchen and prayer area, take note. Grounds of some lots are not even and could water log under heavy rain, so be prepared. There is not a lot of mosquitoes, I think could be due to the presence of bats at night. Overall, Campsite has potential for a five star, once the toilet, wash area had been increase and floor leveled."
"Lovely place for camping, clean enviroment, clean toilet. Friendly Campsite Owner. Came here by bicycle and is accessible for all types of vehicles. Awesome clear water stream . Will visit again when pass by."
"Check in at 1300H, make a reservation with the owner via whatsapp. Has a limited campsite of only 8 sites, each site is different size. Set up a tent 8' X 8', on site no. 2. Can accommodate 2 tents of the same size. Parking area provided within +-10 mtr from the tent. Has pantry, cooking, preparation and dining facilities, all you need just bring food stuff and stove, there is pan and others coocking eqpt. Toilet & bathroom only 1 - shared/unisex. No hot water. Owner will upgrade & expand it in future. Separate prayer areas for men/women. Lights, barbeque pit and electricity are provided. Use of plug points will be charged. Campsite owner is friendly and easy-going, if you have any problems or questions, you can contact him. From the campsite to the river you have to go down the stairs which are +- 50% steep, not suitable for children and the elderly and those who experience knee pain through it, however there is still a suitable place for these categories to enjoy the clear river water with various different depths. You can go to the Lata Payong Bridge with a distance of +- 400mtr from the campsite, or by car less than 2 minutes. No matter where you are, make sure to always be aware of weather changes, because the area always experiences rapid currents / water head phenomena. Read and understand the instructions of the local authority signs."
All 10 reviews sit at 4–5 stars — six 5★ and four 4★ (4.6 average) — with zero negative reviews; the recurring 4★ gripes are toilet numbers, the single wash point, and the steep stair access to the river.
