Campsite Tanah Abah

01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
Kampung-style beach camp — coconut palms, sea breeze and the sound of waves all night.
Unhurried and family-friendly: kids splash in the shallows while parents grill by the tent.
East-facing sunrise front row — coffee in hand as the sun climbs out of the South China Sea.
Small and intimate, with an owner (pre-takeover) who personally checked everyone was comfortable.
03 🚗 Getting There
Getting there — Beachfront, Kg Kubang Golok next to Pantai Tapang; Waze 'Campsite Tanah Abah'
Status uncertain — sold/renamed to Pantai Tapang; No phone or website on the listing
04 🛏️ Staying at Campsite Tanah Abah
A tiny coconut-shaded beach camp on Bachok's quiet coast, where you pitch metres from the South China Sea, fall asleep to waves and wake to Kelantan's famous sunrises. Simple, friendly and cheap — proper kampung-style camping that now lives a second life as Campsite Pantai Tapang.
- Pitch under the coconut trees - Grassy beachfront plots on a first-come-first-served basis — no numbered sites, so arrive early on weekends to grab the shade and the sea view.
- Power & perimeter lighting - Power points reach most pitches (take a long extension cable — the furthest site is ~30 m from the plug), with lights around the camp at night.
- Sunrise & sea breeze - The beach faces east: stunning sunrises over the water, cool sea wind, and a calm shallow shore that kids love to splash around in.
Booking: no published phone or link — message the 'Campsite Tanah Abah, Bachok' Facebook page, or the current operator via TikTok @pantaitapangbachok. Pay on site (reported RM10/adult, under-12s free, RM5 parking). Bring: long extension cable for power, toiletries and towel (basic washrooms, few hooks), cash, mosquito repellent, and your own tent unless you want to rent one. Pitches are first come, first served — come early. Double-check the site still runs as Tanah Abah before driving out.
05 🛠 Facilities
⛺ Beach camping — Grassy pitches under coconut palms right on the sand; first come, first served, no site numbers. Small and intimate — a handful of tents — but kept clean.
🚿 Toilets & sinks — Separate male/female toilets that most reviewers call clean, with two sinks nearby for washing up. Basic: one reviewer notes high-floor squat pans and no hooks for clothes.
🔌 Power & lighting — Power points with electric hookup for RVs plus perimeter lighting. Bring a long extension cable — plugs don't reach every pitch (up to ~30 m).
🔥 BBQ & extras — BBQ pits and sinks for grilling, plus tent rental, hammocks and even boat hire from the operator — easy weekend camping without owning gear.
🏖️ Pantai Tapang doorstep — Step off the camp straight onto Pantai Tapang, with gazebos, food stalls and the new Pantai Tapang Resort next door if anyone wants a proper bed.

Almost all 5s and 4s for the owner, cleanliness and beach setting — 10 five-star, 7 four-star — against one textless 1-star and a 3-star toilet gripe that also dropped the bombshell about the site being sold.
