Alley Stay and Mini Campsite

01 Quick Facts
02 🌲 The Vibe
A tiny, friendly highland campsite where the mountain is the show — campers wake up, unzip the tent and there's Mount Kinabalu.
Quiet and cozy rather than wild: shared kitchen, plug points, hot showers, and a helpful owner who replies personally to reviews.
Nights are proper cold and windy — the reward is clear cold air, starry skies and a sunset view that makes people say they 'don't want to go back'.
Small enough that space is precious — it's a spot for small tents and small groups, not big car-camping crews.
03 🚗 Getting There
Getting there — Off Jalan Sinisian near Hotel Perkasa (Jalan hotel perkasa, Ranau), ~5 min drive from the Kundasang roundabout; short steep access road, small cars OK
Very limited space — small tents only; Cold nights (~14°C), strong wind — need warm layers
04 🛏️ Staying at Alley Stay and Mini Campsite
A small, family-run highland campsite on a hillside in Kundasang with front-row views of Mount Kinabalu — platform and ground tent sites, clean toilets, a shared halal kitchen and plug points, all about 5 minutes from town. Nights are properly cold (~14°C), so bring layers and a small tent.
- Wake up to Kinabalu - The view of Mount Kinabalu from the tent is the #1 thing campers rave about — sunsets and clear mornings get special mention in nearly every review.
- Platform & ground sites - Pitches are on wooden platforms or open ground; space is limited, so reviewers advise bringing a small tent and going light.
- Cold highland nights - Noon sits around 25–27°C but nights drop to ~14°C with strong wind — reviewers say 'need more sweaters if u come over'.
💡 Book first — call or WhatsApp +60 18-666 0035 or DM the FB page 'ALLEY Kundasang Campsite Camping'. Entry is RM15/adult, RM10/child, RM20 per tent site (camper-reported — confirm on booking). Bring: warm clothes & beanie, a small tent, power bank (plug points exist but limited), and your own cookware if you want a full feast — the shared kitchen is halal only (no non-halal cooking), and BBQ is possible. Toilet hot water has been reported both ways, so have a backup plan for the cold shower.
05 🛠 Facilities
🏕️ Tent sites — A mix of wooden platform pitches and open ground sites, kept clean and tidy. Space is limited — this is a 'mini' campsite — so small tents fit best, and it rarely feels packed.
🚻 Toilets & hot water — Clean male and female toilets with showers, repeatedly praised in reviews; most campers report water heaters (one early reviewer had none — hot water can vary).
🍳 Shared kitchen — A well-equipped shared kitchen (halal only — no non-halal cooking) with utensils for self-cooking; campers also boil water there for bathing, and BBQ is possible.
🔌 Plug points — Power points are available around the campsite for charging phones and gear — mentioned in several reviews as a handy bonus.
🌄 Kinabalu panorama — The whole site faces Mount Kinabalu — the reason most people come. Campers describe waking up to the mountain, watching sunset, and 'healing' in the cool air.
06 💬 What Campers Are Saying
"Simple, small, cozy, quiet and affordable campsite. Been here twice and it never fail to show me the magnificent view of Mount Kinabalu. The temperature at noon is somewhat cold (25°-27°) but the night is a whole new level (14°). Campground is either on the "platform" or on ground. Very limited space, so advisable to bring along small tents. Toilet, very clean but just that no hot water. But luckily there's is a nearby sharing kitchen, where you could boil hot water for bathing. Parking space quite limited but accessible. And the location? 5mins drive down to the town of Kundasang. Place is highly recommended. Will be going back there soon."
"today first time come here for camping... price is rm20 tapak, rm15 adult n rm10 kid.... the staffs are helpful and kind here...around 5 mins from kundasang roundabout... very cold and windy. need more sweaters if u come over... have water heater and plug and kitchen (place to cook) as well... will come again 🏕"
"This place is really great! The price is cheap, it's easy to get there because it's close to Nabalu Town and Kundasang. It's cool, comfortable, the view is really amazing. The highway is okay, it's not difficult to get there. The kitchen equipment is enough, it's easy to cook by yourself. There are complete and clean male and female toilets. I'm satisfied, I really recommend it if you want to relax and heal with friends or family. Definitely will repeat again. 🧡"
